This article explains what a 'Consider' result means on a Yoti / Comply Advantage AML check, how to review the AML record in Smartr365, and the compliance steps that typically follow a watchlist match.
Overview
When an AML (Anti-Money Laundering) check run via Yoti or Comply Advantage returns a 'Consider' result, one or more potential matches have been flagged against a watchlist category — such as fitness and probity, sanctions, politically exposed persons (PEPs), or adverse media. A 'Consider' result does not automatically mean the client cannot proceed; it means the match requires human review.
Understanding the Result
Consider: One or more matches were found that require manual review. The match may be a false positive (common name, date of birth coincidence) or a genuine concern.
Fitness & Probity: A watchlist category covering individuals subject to regulatory sanctions or findings. A match here should always be reviewed by compliance before proceeding.
Steps to Follow
Open the AML record — navigate to the case, find the AML / Compliance section, and open the completed check to view the full match details.
Review the match details — compare the matched entity's name, date of birth, nationality, and other identifiers against the client's actual details. Many 'Consider' results are false positives.
Consult your firm's compliance officer or procedure — do not proceed with or reject the case based solely on the AML result. Your firm's AML policy dictates the required escalation steps.
Document your review — record your assessment and rationale in the case notes, whether the match is a false positive or requires further action.
If the match appears genuine, follow your firm's escalation procedure. This may include requesting additional client identification, completing enhanced due diligence, or reporting to your MLRO (Money Laundering Reporting Officer).
Notes
The AML check result and your review notes are stored on the case for audit purposes.
If the check failed to run or shows a platform error, contact Smartr365 support with the case ID.
