This guide explains the fields included in the Current Employment section of the fact find.

Fact Find > Income > Current Employment

This section is used to record the current Employment Status and Employment Details for applicants.

  • To add a record, click the ‘Add Current Employment’ button under the desired applicant.

  • To edit an existing record, click the pencil icon to the right of the employment.

  • To delete an existing record, click the bin icon to the right of the employment.

Once required fields are complete, click ‘Save’ to add the record.

Fields included in this section:

  • Employment Status* (Employed / Unemployed / Self Employed / Retired)

Completing this field will present additional fields to record relevant Current Employment Details.

‘Employed’ fields

  • Is the applicant’s salary paid into a UK account? (Select ‘Yes’ or ‘No’)

  • Employment Basis (Full Time / Part Time)

  • Employment Type (Fixed Term Contract / Permanent / Temporary Or Agency / Piece Work)

    • Selecting ‘Fixed Term Contract’ allows you to record the length of the current contract, the length of the applicant’s previous contract, how long the applicant has been contracting, and whether the contract is likely to be renewed.

    • Selecting ‘Temporary Or Agency’ allows you to record how long the applicant has been in continuous employment.

  • Currently on probation period? (Select ‘Yes’ or ‘No’)

  • Job Title

  • Occupation Sector (Select from the drop down, or use the search bar to search for the Occupation Sector)

  • Name of Employer

  • Employer Address (Use the search function to search for the property postcode, select the street from the pop up, then select the address OR select to ‘Enter Manually’ to key in address details manually)

  • Salary

Based on this employment ONLY.

  • Gross Annual Salary

  • Gross Total Per Annum (Calculated automatically)

  • Gross Monthly (Calculated automatically)

  • Bonus

  • Commission

  • Overtime

  • Other

  • Total Net Monthly (Calculated automatically)

  • Monthly Payslip Deductions

Based on this employment ONLY.

  • Pension Contributions

  • Share Save Schemes

  • Childcare Vouchers

  • Gym Membership

  • Other Deductions

  • Transport Loans / Cycle to Work Scheme

  • Student Loan

  • Approximate Tax Paid (incl. NI)

  • Additional Information

This is a free text box for you to record any additional information you would like to record which may not be captured in the aforementioned fields.

  • Employee Benefits

    • Does the client have Employee Benefits to add?

Selecting this option will allow you to record the applicant’s description of benefits, Sickness Benefit Details, Amount Payable for Sickness, Death in Service Details, Amount Payable for Death, Other Benefit Description.

‘Self Employed’ fields

  • Is the applicant’s salary paid into a UK account? (Select ‘Yes’ or ‘No’)

  • Company Address (Use the search function to search for the property postcode, select the street from the pop up, then select the address OR select to ‘Enter Manually’ to key in address details manually)

  • Is the applicant treated as employed for tax purposes? (Select ‘Yes’ or ‘No’)

  • Self Employment Type (Sole Trader / Limited Company / Contractor / Limited Liability Partnership)

Please select the applicant’s self employment type according to how the applicant is registered with HMRC for tax purposes.

  • Selecting ‘Sole Trader’ allows you to record Job Title, Total Net Monthly, and Profit before and after tax for the last 3 years.

  • Selecting ‘Limited Company’ allows you to record the Company Name, Shareholdings (%), Job Title, Incorporation Date, Year End Date, and Total Net Monthly income.

You can also record Turnover, Profit before Taxation, Profit after Taxation, Director’s Salary and dividends for the 3 most recent financial years.

  • Selecting ‘ Contractor’ allows you to record Job Title, Daily Rate (excl VAT), Length of current contract, how long the applicant has been contracting, if the contract is likely to be renewed, Total Net Monthly, and Total Income before and after tax for the last 3 years.

  • Selecting ‘Limited Liability Partnership’ allows you to record Company Name, Company Number, Job Title, when the applicant became a member of the Partnership / Limited Liability Partnership, Total Net Monthly, and share of Net Profit before and after tax for the last 3 years.

  • Accountant Details

  • Firm Name

  • Individual Contact

  • Telephone (number)

  • Email

  • Qualification

  • Address (Use the search function to search for the property postcode, select the street from the pop up, then select the address OR select to ‘Enter Manually’ to key in address details manually.

‘Retired’ fields

  • Is the applicant’s salary paid into a UK account? (Select ‘Yes’ or ‘No’)

  • Annual Gross Retirement Income

  • Additional Information

This is a free text box for you to record any additional information you would like to record which may not be captured in the aforementioned fields.

  • Start Date (DD/MM/YYYY)

Selecting the little calendar icon will allow you to select the date from a calendar pop up. This is the date the Current Employment started.

For Protection Only Cases, you can limit the visible fields by turning on the ‘Simplified’ toggle.
