This release brings a broad set of improvements focused on giving you clearer, more immediate feedback throughout the app, so you always know where you stand after every action.
Introducing Pure Protect — Protection & GI referrals, built into Smartr365
We've partnered with Pure Protect and implemented an in-platform referral directly inside Smartr365. From any case you can now hand a client to Pure Protect's specialist advisers for protection and general insurance advice, covering the full range:
Life insurance
Critical illness cover
Income protection
Private Medical Insurance (PMI)
General insurance
The referral is triggered from within the case you're already working. No external forms, no re-keying client data, and no need to leave Smartr365. Once sent, Pure Protect's team picks up the client and provides tailored advice, while you retain full visibility of the referral status in platform. The feature is opt-in per firm, so nothing changes for firms who don't enable it.
Hand off the protection conversation when you haven't got the time, or when you'd rather have a specialist in the room, without losing the client or your oversight of the case. It's one click inside the workflow you're already in — the client goes straight to Pure Protect's advisers across life, CI, IP, PMI and GI, and you stay in the loop from referral through to outcome.
Payment Shield Buy To Let Now Available!
PaymentShield now supports Buy To Let (Landlord) insurance end-to-end. Previously, PaymentShield was limited to residential cases, forcing brokers to handle BTL landlord cover outside of Smartr. BTL is now a first-class option in both journeys:
PaymentShield Quote — landlord cases can be quoted directly from a BTL mortgage case without leaving Smartr.
PaymentShield Refer — BTL cases that fall outside auto-quote rules can be referred through the standard PaymentShield referral flow.
This means BTL and residential cases now follow the same insurance journey, removing a long-standing gap where landlord cover had to be sourced separately.
Homebuyer notifications
When a client completes their fact find, brokers now get notified via email and in platform. Changes made in the broker portal save directly without extra steps. Deposit source entries also have improved validation.
Email and client communications
A handful of long-standing email annoyances are sorted. Renaming an email template now updates the original instead of quietly creating a duplicate. Replies to clients correctly show the client's email address in the To field (no more replies@replies.smartr365.com). And automated emails now consistently include the correct website link, with tracking working as it should.
Experian and Open Banking optimisation
A big focus this release. The end-to-end Experian experience is noticeably more reliable. Open Banking flows through more smoothly, bank statements are retrieved as expected, and credit reports behave properly: credit history saves, consent works first time, and commitments populate correctly.
Doc Drop Box smoother journey
Doc Drop Box gets a proper refresh in this release. Document classification is more accurate with bank statements, for example, correctly recognised in the Homebuyer upload flow instead of being misfiled as proof of address.
You'll also find a cleaner interface, built-in document preview and tighter validation when uploading. Behind the scenes, the processing pipeline is more robust, and assigning a case to a record that already has a client now gives you a clear message rather than an unexpected error.
We've reworked the upload window so it keeps you in the loop from start to finish. Successful files are confirmed, and if any fail, the window stays open with a clear message so you can retry just the ones that didn't go through, no more wondering whether your upload actually landed.
SmartrConnect
Overall lender integration stability has improved, making the app more resilient when you're moving between different lenders. Mortgage submissions now properly surface any failures rather than completing silently,
Document downloads
We've added better feedback to document downloads and copying. If something can't be retrieved, you'll be told immediately rather than ending up with a missing file and no explanation.
Insurance quotes (Uinsure and Paymentshield)
We've made sure that when you're pulling quotes from Uinsure or Paymentshield, any issues show up on screen straight away, so you won't be left staring at a blank quote, wondering what happened.
Case notes
We've added a clear message when notes can't load, so you won't see an empty panel that looks like the client has nothing on file.
Favouriting cases
We've improved favouriting so it now confirms the change has been saved. If something goes wrong, you'll see a message rather than an inaccurate star on your list.
Settings and feature access
We've added friendly messages when you try to reach a settings page your role can't access, or open a feature that's been switched off for your network, explaining why, rather than bouncing you somewhere else with no explanation.
