How to Use Yoti for Digital Identity Verification

Guide to using Yoti digital identity verification in Smartr365, including subscription management, starting verification sessions, and viewing results.

Updated this week

Overview

Yoti is a digital identity verification service integrated into Smartr365. Unlike traditional ID checks, Yoti sends a secure verification request directly to the client, who completes the process using the Yoti app on their phone. Results are returned to Smartr365 automatically. Yoti is a subscription-based service with usage limits.

Subscription Requirements

Yoti requires an active subscription. Your subscription determines how many verifications you can run:

Note: When your usage limit is reached, the verification button will be disabled unless overage is permitted on your plan. Contact your account manager to review your subscription.

Starting a Verification

  1. Open the client's case and navigate to the Verify Identity section

  2. Select Yoti as the verification provider

  3. Check that the client has a valid email address on record — Yoti will send the invitation to this email

  4. Click Start Verification

  5. The client will receive an email with instructions to complete the verification using the Yoti app

What the Client Does

After you start a verification session:

  1. The client receives an email invitation from Yoti

  2. They download the Yoti app (if they haven't already)

  3. They scan their identity document (passport, driving licence, etc.)

  4. They take a selfie for biometric matching

  5. Yoti processes the verification and returns results to Smartr365

Viewing Results

Once the client completes the verification:

  • The verification status updates in the Verify Identity section

  • Results show whether the identity was verified successfully

  • If the AML Reports feature is enabled, anti-money laundering reports will also be available in the document store

Common Issues

  • "Limit Reached" — Your subscription usage limit has been reached. Contact your account manager to increase the limit or renew

  • "No Subscription" — Yoti requires an active subscription. Contact your account manager to set one up

  • Client hasn't received email — Check the client's email address is correct. Ask the client to check spam/junk folders. You can resend the invitation

  • Verification pending — The client has not yet completed the Yoti process. Chase the client to complete the verification on their phone
