What is Accelerated and Additional protection?
What is Accelerated and Additional protection?
Updated over 4 months ago

There are two types of critical illness cover: accelerated and additional. Accelerated critical illness cover is the most common and cheapest option. With this type of cover, the insurance pays out a lump sum if you become seriously ill or pass away. However, once the payout is made, the cover ends and there is no further protection.

On the other hand, additional critical illness insurance provides ongoing protection even after a payout has been made. If you become seriously ill and the insurance pays out, the cover continues to protect you. This means that if something worse happens in the future, such as your passing away, the cover can pay out again.

While accelerated critical illness cover is more affordable, it may not provide the same level of long-term protection as additional critical illness insurance. The choice between the two types of cover depends on your individual needs and preferences.
